Fishing report for the first week of April

The report for the first week of April is about normal for this time of year, we had this same lull last year as well and then the Offshore World Championship had another record breaking year, let's hope it's the same again this year. Offshore has still been some decent numbers with Sailfish and there have been some Mahi-Mahi and Yellow-fin Tuna being caught. In-shore Roosterfish have been there for the taking in some decent numbers, Snapper have also been hitting the local dinner tables as well.

Costa Rica fishing report March 2016

Fishing report for the last week of March

The reports definitely are starting to cool off a bit as the month progressed but stayed pretty good overall. Most of the offshore reports for the week were in the double digits for Sailfish and there was also some Mahi-Mahi hitting the tables as well. In-shore was tough on occasion but there were still some nice Roosterfish in the area keeping the rods bent. As we head into April all eyes are on the 2016 Offshore World Championships here in the Marina Pez Vela in Quepos / Manuel Antonio where we are expecting over 70 boats from all over the country, and 60 plus teams coming from all over the world looking for top place.

Manuel Antonio fishing report another strong report from offshore, the Mar 1 31' Bertram caught 11 Sailfish, clients out on the Blue Pearl 2 caught 7 Sailfish and the Moonwalker caught 6 Sailfish, 2 Yellow-fin Tuna and 1 Mahi-Mahi so this group will be eating well, a couple others read 17 Sailfish and 19 Sailfish on their return to the Marina Pez Vela in Quepos / Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica.

Costa Rica fishing report March 26

Manuel Antonio fishing report stellar again offshore catching 17 of 25 Sailfish, and a crazy conversation on the radio with one of the local Captains saying that it has been such a good month that he has only had 1 day with less than 10 Sailfish at the end of the day so far in the month of March.

Los Suenos fishing report the Chaser 2 was out on an offshore trip and came back with a report of 19 for 30 Sailfish they had hooked up.

Costa Rica fishing report March 25

Manuel Antonio fishing report this just in from the Mar 1 31' Bertram 1 Blue Marlin and 22 Sailfish on a trip offshore, you know the fishing has been great when they report comes in as 1 Blue Marlin and "only" 22 Sailfish… Now that's some great fishing out of the Marina Pez Vela in Quepos / Manuel Antonio.

Los Suenos fishing report another great day out of Los Suenos with a couple reports both having 20 plus in them, 24 for 36 Sailfish in one and 27 for 32 Sailfish in the other. Flamingo fishing report I can just imagine how jealous the Captains in the Flamingo area are seeing all of the fantastic reports coming in from Los Suenos and the Quepos / Manuel Antonio and they are all relaxing at the dock as it seems like there isn't anyone looking to head out fishing lately for them.

Costa Rica fishing report March 20

Fishing report for the first week of September

As we start out the month most people are thinking of wrapping up for the summer and getting the kids back in school, this will definitely hurt the reports coming in as there just isn't the people here to fish. September and October tend to be a little slow in terms of anglers, which is really too bad as this is a great time of year to catch Marlin, Sailfish. Another reason you should be here now is the prices on jst about everything are low and there are some deals to be had as some Captains just want to get out fishing knowing of the great bite that's waiting!!

Mar1 Sport Fishing Travel tips for going on a fishing trip

If you are going on a fishing trip along with friends or through an organized tour in Costa Rica, it is very important to follow certain fishing tips. Below mentioned are the important fishing tips that will be quite handy to you to help plan your next  Costa Rica Fishing Holiday.

fish-Quepos
Search – Before going to fishing in a particular area, it is very important to search regarding the area on the internet. You should not completely rely on the marketing material that is provided by the fishing tour company. Try to extract the recent information about that particular area and see whether it is the best time to go in there or not.

Cost – Some of the best fishing operation always get repeat business from a great reputation and their ability to catch fish. Sometimes there are cases where the fishing Charters charge more to the new clients as it becomes a supply and demand issue. It is advisable to be alert and not let them overcharge you. If you are going for fishing with friends then you should hire boat wisely. Refrain from hiring large boat for small group of people and ask questions as to what size of charter boat is required for your group of fishermen.

Weather – After selecting your fishing area make sure you do adequate research on weather of that area. You don’t want to be blown by a hurricane or get drenched in torrential rains while fishing. So, proper research of the weather is very vital for good fishing. Fortunately in Quepos Mar1 Sport Fishing don't have this problem in the Quepos, Costa Rica area, however the Guanacaste Area does get windy certain times of the year.
