Great Marlin bite offshore

What a great Marlin bite we have had offshore, and if it's been that good for the charter fleet you can imagine the reports that are going to be coming in from the outer banks where the single-day charters just can't get to with the amount of time that the Captains have allotted to them. looking to split a fishing charter?

Mar 1 Sport fishing has many opportunities for anglers to share a fishing charter with others that are also looking to share a trip. Sharing a fishing charter is a great way to either knock down the cost of the one day charter or make it possible to fish two days instead of one. We work with a large network of other local charter companies to try to get as many of these charters put together as possible throughout the season.

Costa Rica Sport Fishing report for October 2014

Sport fishing Costa Rica October trends bring Blue Marlin, Sailfish and Dorado

Sport fishing in Costa Rica in the month of October anglers will usually find some great fishing offshore and in-shore. Marlin will be in the area and will be hungry, Sailfish will also be around but not in the numbers we see in the peak season of January – March. Dorado will be tearing up the spreads as the rains wash out the rivers and bring out that nice structure that the Dorado love to hide under. Enough with the monthly fishing forecast let's get on with the reports for the month of October here from Costa Rica.

Costa Rica Sport fishing report October 22

Quepos fishing report from offshore 1 Black Marlin, 4 Sailfish and 3 Dorado.

Los Sueños fishing report good Sailfish bite today going 9 for 11 on Sailfish and also caught 4 Dorado.

What type of Charter is for you?

Deciding on what type of Charter you would like depends on two things and they are type of fish you would like to catch and the amount of time you want to stay on the water. Offshore charters for Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado and Yellow-fin Tuna I would recommend at least a ¾ day or full day, a half-day offshore just isn't enough time. In-shore fishing for Roosterfish, Snook, Snapper and many other species a half or ¾ day charter is great but some find a full day a little long when fishing in-shore.

Sport fishing Costa Rica Third week of October brings Blue Marlin, Sailfish and Dorado

Los Sueños fishing report only one in-shore report for the day with 1 Roosterfish.

In-shore fishing for Roosterfish

In-shore fishing for Roosterfish is probably one of my favorite ways to spend any good half-day. Roosterfish are a great fighting sport fish that are all catch and release, for any of you that haven't had the pleasure of having one of these giants on the end of your line is sadly missing out.

Sport Fishing report Costa Rica for October 2014

Sport fishing in Costa Rica for the month of October we plan to see the amount the boats go out to slow down as this is the month that is in what we call the "slow season" and there is more fish than there is fishermen to catch them. October usually produces a good Marlin bite as well as Sailfish and Dorado offshore. In-shore fishing will depend on the weather with the rains making the water very dirty at some points and will make the crews earn their tips finding some clean water and fish.

Costa Rica Sport Fishing report for September 2014

Sport fishing in Costa Rica finishing out the month here in Costa Rica the reports have been a little up and down but for the most part there has been some happy fishermen getting off the great fleet of charter boats we have here at the end of the day.

Offshore fishing has been where the crews have been struggling the odd day here and there, but overall the bite has been fairly decent for the most part. Marlin seemed to be showing up a little less frequently in the reports, Sailfish have been ranging from 0 to double digits, and the Dorado have been biting everything in sight some days.

In-shore fishing has produced some great catches and some monster Roosterfish, one of my personal favorites to catch and a fantastic fighting species for sport fishing.

Costa Rica Sport fishing report September 30

Quepos fishing report offshore the tally was 3 Sailfish and 8 Dorado also missing a Marlin that took just about every bait clean off the hook.

Los Sueños fishing report in-shore today the catch was 3 Dorado and 1 Jack Crevalle, now what's going on with the Dorado lately coming in-shore to give anglers a great surprise.

Costa Rica Sport fishing report September 29

Quepos fishing report glad to be in-shore today and were able to release 3 Roosterfish the largest was 65 pounds and was almost a 2 hour fight.

Los Sueños fishing report oh my 2 reports today out of the Los Sueños fleet and they were both not what any of us like to see or hear, however this is fishing and both reports had a kind of skunky smell to them out of the dreams camp.

Los Sueños fishing report good variety today with 2 Sailfish, 1 Dorado and 1 Wahoo in one report, 1 Sailfish on a very short charter was the other.

Costa Rica Sport fishing report September 27

Quepos fishing report In-shore has been fantastic here in Quepos with some monsters being caught, today on a half-day charter they released 4 Roosterfish the smallest was 40 plus pounds and the biggest was in the 60 pound range. After a day of sport fishing like that you can just about guaranty some sore arms in the morning…

Los Sueños fishing report Good-Day-Too released 11 Sailfish and 1 Dorado what a gret day of Deep sea fishing out of Los Sueños.

Flamingo, Costa Rica Wetass II released 1 Blue Marlin, 1 Sailfish and 6 Dorado.

Costa Rica Sport fishing report September 26

Quepos fishing report if you have been looking for Dorado then this is definitely the time for you to be fishing here in Quepos. The Dorado have been thick here and are playing havoc in the spreads tearing up baits. Sailfish have been a little on the slow side of things but the great Dorado bite is definitely making it up.

Los Sueños fishing report Good-Day-Too released 2 Sailfish and 1 Wahoo and were back at the dock just after noon, other reports from full day charters were 4 Sailfish and 1 Dorado, 5 – 7 Sailfish and 2 Dorado, 8 Sailfish and 1 Dorado, finally 3 Sailfish and 3 Dorado so a busy day today out of Los Sueños.

Costa Rica Sport fishing report September 25

Quepos fishing report better day offshore today with 4 – 6 Sailfish and 4 Dorado, there was some excitement with a Marlin in the spread but it just wouldn't commit to a bait enough that the crew could get it hooked up.

Los Sueños fishing report a few reports today 5 Sailfish in one, 4 Sailfish, and another 2 Sailfish with a couple of those charters coming home a little early.

Costa Rica Sport fishing report September 24

Quepos fishing report offshore bite was also a little slow today with 1 Sailfish and a few Dorado.

Los Sueños fishing report 2 Sailfish was all they were able to get to the boat today was the only report we saw so a little slow in Los Sueños.

Costa Rica Sport fishing report September 23

Quepos fishing report crazy in-shore report today out of Quepos with 2 Dorado and 4 Roosterfish… yes Dorado in-shore I bet they were not expecting that…

Los Sueños fishing report more reports in today from a great in-shore charter releasing 4 Roosterfish on a half-day of sport fishing.

Costa Rica Sport Fishing report

Straight from Costa Rica from the heading into the last week of the month, and I must say where did it go? Some more great reports coming in from the fleet of great Sport Fishing Charter boats that we offer here in Costa Rica. Offshore fish have been plentiful with a great Marlin and Sailfish bite, Dorado have been thick and have offered up more than a few great dinners and don't forget the Yellow-fin Tuna that have also been in the reports hitting the dinner table.

In-shore fishing reports have been just as steady coming in to Mar1 Sport fishing with the Roosterfish taking the spotlight over the past week there have been some big ones in Quepos and Los Sueños reports. I would definitely try to mix in a day of in-shore fishing to your next vacation here in Costa Rica.

Costa Rica Sport fishing report September 19

Quepos fishing report another great day in-shore this time on a full day charter catching 7 Roosterfish, 8 Jack Crevalle and 5 Snapper to finish off the day and get some dinner for tonight.

Los Sueños fishing report from the Good-Day-Too 2 for 5 Blue Marlin, 1 Sailfish and 21 Dorado… wow there will be dinner for a few days anyways for the clients and the crew and their families. Please keep this in mind when you are on your next charter here in Costa Rica, please only take the amount of fish that you think you will eat while here and while it's fresh. We see a lot of fish get wasted because people think they will eat it all and take it back to the room with them just to have it go bad in the fridge. What you leave behind will almost 100% of the time be split among the crew and will feed sometimes entire families and is extremely appreatiaed by all of the crews.

Costa Rica Sport fishing report September 18

Quepos fishing report offshore on a Dorado hunt today and did they get into them, there was no count for the day just LOTS as no one seemed to have any idea of how many they actually caught but fun was had by all. Although there was a lot of little ones they did keep 3 in the 30 pound range to take back to the villa to feed their group.

Los Sueños fishing report Good-Day-Too caught 12 Dorado and a couple Yellow-fin Tuna, some on the fly what a great experience, a report of a Monster Broomtail Grouper that bottomed out the 80 pound scale on board, also caught 7 Dorado.

Search – Before going to fishing in a particular area, it is very important to search regarding the area on the internet. You should not completely rely on the marketing material that is provided by the fishing tour company. Try to extract the recent information about that particular area and see whether it is the best time to go in there or not.

Cost – Some of the best fishing operation always get repeat business from a great reputation and their ability to catch fish. Sometimes there are cases where the fishing Charters charge more to the new clients as it becomes a supply and demand issue. It is advisable to be alert and not let them overcharge you. If you are going for fishing with friends then you should hire boat wisely. Refrain from hiring large boat for small group of people and ask questions as to what size of charter boat is required for your group of fishermen.

Weather – After selecting your fishing area make sure you do adequate research on weather of that area. You don’t want to be blown by a hurricane or get drenched in torrential rains while fishing. So, proper research of the weather is very vital for good fishing. Fortunately in Quepos Mar1 Sport Fishing don't have this problem in the Quepos, Costa Rica area, however the Guanacaste Area does get windy certain times of the year.
