Fishing in Quepos

Fishing Costa Rica has been nothing short of amazing as of late, we had a boat out of Los Suenos that managed a 2 day total of 30 Sailfish, 13 Mahi-Mahi and 17 Yellow fin Tuna, in two days fishing. Other Quepos fishing reports are coming in with some great offshore trolling and bottom fishing reports like ‎20 grouper from 5 - 45lbs, 3 triple tails, 1 Wahoo and 1 tile fish.

In-shore fishing here in Quepos has been good as well with multiple Rooster Fish releases in half day charters. Fishing Costa Rica is HOT right now so come get in on some of the fishing action!!

Top story for the last couple days is a Charter Boat in Quepos went for an overnight Charter and after the 60+ mile run and a day and a half fishing managed to release 10 Blue Marlin, 1 Striped Marlin, and 15 Sailfish!!!! Anyone want to try an overnight?????

We started the day 1 for 1 on Bobby birds, ha ha ha and then proceeded to go 3 for 3 on Sailfish, the first one was a monster, and they were all beautiful fish to say the least.

We were blessed with 2 trips today, 2 half day inshore trips now it was just too bad the fish weren't cooperating. The morning trip Mar 1 Sport Fishing had a few of the local gringos on the boat and 2 out of the 3 of them were looking for their first Rooster fish We hit the rocks and got nada, Vinny was even throwing poppers to see if Mar 1 Sport Fishing could get some action. Then off to the River mouth Mar 1 Sport Fishing went looking for some Snook, fish count at the river 1 Catfish…oh my Back to the rock to try for Roosters, Mar 1 Sport Fishing managed a few bites but the fish went straight back to the rocks and all Mar 1 Sport Fishing got were some sawed off lines. Oh Well what can you do the clients still had a great time and will be back.

The Afternoon group was a family from Ocean City and as Mar 1 Sport Fishing all know Captain Oscar loves having the little ones on the boat so Mar 1 Sport Fishing were hoping that the bite was better than this morning. Off to the North they went to try the Partita River for Roosters and Snook but the waves were far to big to try that so they trolled the beach in search for some Mackerels , they were rewarded with 1 nice Jack and finished the day off with some snorkeling and a little sunset cruise, as the clients put it when they got off “It was an amazing trip” and Mar 1 Sport Fishing will see you again.

Quepos, Costa Rica Fishing Charters at their finest here folks, The bite wasn’t really hot but the quality of the fish that were caught more than made up for it as a good part of the day they spent fighting fish. The Monster Rooster fish that was caught was pushing 60# and took almost an hour to get to the boat. They also managed to get a couple Jacks of a monster size. The pictures are a must see for these fish.

Great day to be on the water, with the moon the way it is Mar 1 Sport Fishing were expecting a great bite today, if wasn't real great but there was some great catches in it. The totals were 1 for 3 on Sails and a perfect 1 for 1 on Mahi.

The Marlin bite still continues here in Quepos, Costa Rica with most of the boats collecting 3-5 Sails in a day and some are getting lucky enough to still get a chance to play with a Marlin. The Harry Grey Fly Fishing Tournament Starts on the 24th so Mar 1 Sport Fishing wish all the boats in that great tournament luck. The Blue water 2 got 3 Sails on the 24th, Blue Pearl 2 got 3 Sails on the 27th, with the moon getting smaller Mar 1 Sport Fishing hope that the bite picks up here and Mar 1 Sport Fishing get a few double digit reports here in the next couple weeks.

Mar 1 Sport Fishing had a couple guys out today for a 3/4 day of bottom fishing, with in 5 minutes Vinny had a nice Snapper hooked up and after the clients switched off 4 times the fish ran into the rocks and cut the line, there was a couple more hits but the fishermen just weren't prepared for the Quepos Fishing experience and lost every fish they had hooked but 1 nice Blue runner. We did manage to set them up for a 1/2 day inshore fishing tomorrow with a smaller boat.

The ocean was as calm as glass and we saw lots of sea life. The second day was a little more rough on the water and after a slow start to the day we also managed to get 4 sails to the boat again. Oscar and Luis made our trip very comfortable and the service we received was awesome and they got us on fish every day.
